That One Time...I Worked for Adele!

While I was playing lead with the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, I was chosen for an AMAZING opportunity to sit principal trumpet in Adele's all-female orchestra for her 2016 tour. While I didn't play the entire tour which ran across all of the USA, I played a stretch for her in the midwest and it was one of the most transformative experiences of my career to date. I'll never forget seeing the pink confetti fly down from the cannons when her then-boyfriend proposed to her, and the subsequent pictures of the orchestra featured in Elle Magazine chronicling the event. Looking forward to many more moments on the road like this!
That Other Time...I Worked for Keith Urban!

What a wild ride this was! So, a friend of a dear friend needed a female lead trumpet player for some award show work. Of course, having gotten the call and not being told who the artist was, I was happy to play. Turns out a little earlier, Keith's hit song won a Country Music Award and while he was readying himself to be featured on the TV airing of said awards he read an article in The Tennessean which reported the inequality of treatment experienced by female musicians in the Nashville music scene. Having daughters and feeling strongly that this disparity needed a public platform Keith quickly pivoted, put together an all-female backing band, and performed James Brown's "It's a Mans, Mans, World" instead of his hit song of the year. I was lucky enough to represent countless female musicians on stage with him that night to prove to the world that we are outstanding and plenty competent enough to be included for equal pay and treatment in the Nashville music scene and the world. Another gig I will never forget!
